Sweden in World War II - across borders

Swedes for Denmark

One day a Swedish ship in traffic between Denmark and Sweden as usual was controlled by the Germans in Copenhagen, when a German soldier heard a baby cry. The mother and child, hidden in a box, were found. The Swedes were imprisoned for some days. [s65]

In 1945 a number of Saab B17 bombers were ready to be re-based from F 7 in Såtenäs to Denmark, with Danish air force signs and Danish crews. However they were not needed, the way the war ended. [s82]

In 1946 some 700 Swedes were awarded the Danish medal "Frihetsmedaljen" for their efforts for the Danish resistance. [s50]
